Baca night was cancelled due to rain! This is actually a good thing because Waco really needed rain. We can count on one hand how many times it has rained since we have moved here. But I will say we don't get drizzles. No, when it rains in Waco, it pours.
Tim had his first day of orientation today. The orientation included a luncheon for spouses and provided childcare for Adam. We sat at a table with two other doctorate students and three professors (one theology and 2 nt). The lunch was a chicken ceasar salad and a slice of pie. Dr. Bellinger gave a inspiring talk to the students calling them to be faithful to family and the church but to also make school a priority. He was encouraging because he called the choice making in who the students would be this year was a judgement call. A judgement call on who could "do" the program and "do" it well. The professors commited to equipping the students to be scholars. It was honorable and for a non-scholar in a room full of scholars I will say I felt very welcome and able to be myself.
All of the professors I met were incredibly humble and loved to talk about their kids more than their work- with me at least. Faith was definitely a priority in each of their lives (of the ones I met)... over all I was very impressed and encouraged.
Adam got new play doh and a box of play doh toys today. He spent much of his afternoon exploring play doh world. He also found a shirt of his that has an orange fish on it. Of course this fish is Nemo and of course Adam carried it around all day long. O and he went all day without the passy, even his nap time! He is sleeping with it now. I am hoping to have it a bedtime/naptime only thing for now on. Now we are picking out costumes for Adam and the baby... hopefully the baby will come before the fall festival!
