Pumpkin Carving and Apple Dipping Fun

Friday night was the big party. Adam and I spent an hour unwrapping the caramels one by one. I thought they would melt fast in the crock pot so I waited until just before six. Well by 6:30 I had the women from church that came to help in the kitchen putting the caramel in bowls in the microwave! Ideally I would like to be self sufficient. BUT This forced me to allow others to help. And help they did. It was amazing. It started getting dark so one guy went in his apt and brought out a light, we needed help getting the drinks so some of the other moms took care of that... the men started cutting the pumpkins and the kids scooped out the pumpkins guts. Everyone had a job to do. It was a lot of fun.
*here is one neat story. I didn't know who to invite to the party. I hand wrote invitations and couldn't do that for every door. I prayed about it as the boys and I taped invitations to doors.
A tall beautiful woman comes to the party with cookies and a pumpkins and AWESOME tools for carving. We'll call her Jane. She was shy but very sweet. I talked with a little and when it came time to carve a girl named olivia didn't have a pumpkin. Her mom was at work. I asked JANE if Olivia could help her. She looked unsure, "I don't know how she can help? I mean I am never around children..." I asked her if Olivia could scoop out the stuff. She liked that and I left them alone... Awhile late I came back over and olivia looked so happy. She is showing me her pumpkin and said that JANE gave it to her. I walked olivia home and ann came along. When it was just Ann and I, I found out she had post traumatic stress from Iraq (army). She said she hasn't done anything really in the 16 months she has been here. then she found an invitation to the party and it sounded like the perfect thing for her to get out and do. she grew up carving pumpkins every year with her parents. Then she found out olivia had NEVER even had a pumpkin- It meant a lot to Jane that she could do that with Olivia. Pray for 'jane'.

We had a few people come out that I hadn't met before. I am excited about what the lord is doing here. Thank you for your prayers and support.
